> About the Company
- Is TeleRadio a manufacturer?
Yes, TeleRadio is the manufacturer of UV1, UV2, UV3,
UV colour, IVSS, Mobile-I and Phone Seal.
> UVSS
- What is the difference between UV1,
UV2 UV3 and UV colour?
UV1 is the first generation of UVSS. It comprises of
4 analogue cameras with a surface mounted ramp. The
4 cameras capture the undercarriage images of the vehicle
as the vehicle passes over the ramp. The live images
are then displayed on a quad monitor. Advantages of
UV1 include its relative low cost and ease of deployment.
The main disadvantage is its inability to conduct detailed
inspection when vehicle travels above 10km/h.
UV2 is a black/while or monochrome version of UVSS.
It uses industrial linear camera that is designed to
operate under extreme environments. The system produces
a complete undercarriage image when vehicles pass over
the scanning system. It has a higher speed tolerance
of up to 50km/h.
UV3 is a black and white (monochrome) version of UVSS.
Its distinguishing feature is its capability to scan
moving as well as stationary-parked vehicle. The UV3
contains additional battery-driven mechanism that allows
it to move under a stationary or parked vehicle. In
such application, images can be wirelessly transmitted
back to the receiving station. UV3 is specially designed
for EOD operation or rapid scanning of static vehicles
in a car park.
UV colour is similar to UV2 except it captures and presents
the undercarriage images in colour. Colour brings about
greater contrast and this allows officers to better
distinguish foreign objects hidden under the vehicle.
- What is the difference between static/fixed
and portable systems?
Static/fixed refers to permanently installed systems.
These systems are mainly installed at the entrances
to secured compounds or security checkpoints to conduct
daily inspection operation.
(UV1, UV2 and UV Colour)
Portable systems are systems intended for short-term
(1 to 7 days) deployment to secure special events. Such
systems are designed for rapid setup, high mobility
and sometimes with optional battery supply. (UV1, UV
colour and UV3)
- What is embedded and surface-mounted?
Both embedded and surface-mounted describe the method
that the UVSS is positioned.
Embedded requires some civil engineering construction
of the recessing pit. The main advantage is it provides
smooth traffic flow operation with minimal driver awareness.
This is the recommended configuration as it offers easy
maintenance.
Surface-mounted consists of a robust ramp that protects
the built-in UV system. The advantage of this system
is it requires minimal installation with no excavation
works.
- How many days do we require for
an installation?
Embedded systems will require one to two weeks.
Surface-mounted systems typically take less than a week.
- What is the speed limit for each
UV system?
| |
UV1 |
- |
Less
than 10 km/h |
| |
UV2 |
- |
Less than 50 km/h |
| |
UV3 |
- |
Stopping vehicle
or less that 50 km/h |
| |
UV Colour |
- |
Less than 50 km/h |
- What sort of operational training
is required?
For operator training, a 3 hours training session is
sufficient.
For maintenance training, we will require a half-day
on-site training.
- What are the maintenance requirements?
All our UV systems require minimum maintenance. A step-by-step
easy maintenance manual will be provided with every
UV system purchased.
- What are ALPR, LPR, LPRS and OCR?
| |
ALPR |
- |
Automatic
Number Plate Recognition |
| |
LPR |
- |
License Plate Recognition |
| |
LPRS |
- |
License Plate Recognition
System |
| |
OCR |
- |
Optical Character
Recognition |
They are all similar but marketed under different names
by our distributors around the world. This is an optional
feature in UVSS that automatically captures the license
plate number of the accessing vehicle. This information
will be tagged together with the scanned undercarriage
images in the database for record and reference purposes.
- Are the ALPR, LPR and OCR required
and what is the accuracy?
It will be useful when the user needs to keep a record
or database of accessing vehicles. The key issue is
its reliability and accuracy, which depends on many
environmental factors. These include lighting conditions,
vehicular speed, turning angles and available positions
for the License Plate capturing camera. Given the ideal
environment, the accuracy of this feature can be well
above 90%.
- Can UVSS work under rain or snow?
The embedded version of UV has the ability to operate
under rain and snow conditions. For surface-mounted
UV, it is always recommended to install under shelters.
- What is IP65 rated and why is it
important?
IP65 is an international standard rating to describe
systems that meet the level of protection against dust
and rain in outdoor environments.
| |
Example:
Protection level offered by an IP65 rated UV system
by TeleRadio. |
| |
|
6
= Total protection from dust |
| |
|
5 = Protected
from low pressure jets of water from all directions |
As UVSS is normally installed outdoors, it is important
that the system must be IP65 rated by a recognized standards
board. This is to ensure that dust and rain will not
affect the systems performance and shorten the equipment
life span.
All UV systems supplied by TeleRadio is IP65 certified.

- Is there an automatic comparison
and alarm feature when foreign object are hidden under
the vehicle?
Yes, the automatic comparison is a feature in all UV
systems except UV1. The accuracy of this feature varies
with external environment factors.
- Can vehicles stop on top of the
UV scanner?
Yes, the filtering feature in the UV system will remove
any redundant images captured.
- Can we customize the UV to meet
our operational requirements?
Yes, we are specialized in customizing our UV system
to meet user requirements. Nevertheless, we will require
a longer delivery time to fine-tune and test the system.
- In which countries can we find
your UV system?
TeleRadio UV systems have been installed over Asia,
Europe, Middle East and currently operating in US.
- What is the UV market share captured
by TeleRadio?
TeleRadio has managed to capture at least 90% of the
UVSS requirements in Asia. This makes us the largest
UV supplier in this region.
- What is the price of each UV?
Please send us your enquiry to tele_r_e@pacific.net.sg
We will quote according to the configurations that you
